Aminath Nadira, Deputy Leader of the breakaway faction of the ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) has stated that the Government cannot fool citizens under guise of development.
Speaking in the rally in Kamadhoo island in Baa atoll, Nadira said any development must be seen and experienced by the citizens. She highlighted on pledges such as ’24-hour electricity’, noting that the Government had been incapable of fulfilling it. She said the public would have a hard time believing in the concept of fulfilling pledges, when electricity cuts happen every two hours.
Nadira added that manipulating prices of basic necessities close to elections spoke volumes and that public would not accept such actions.
As such, she said the opposition will protest against such acts, perpetrated under the guise of development.
Nadira stressed the public had already said no to the incumbent President and his administration. She said the joint opposition will not cease their activities.
