Former President Abdulla Yameen has stated that no one in the incumbent administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu can be held accountable.
Yameen heavily criticized the incumbent administration from the audience of the People’s National Front (PNF) gathering held on November 7.
Stressing that the incumbent is acting in a way that facilitates corruption, Yameen responded to multiple allegations made by government officials and said that he can be held accountable for all his actions, and there is nothing he cannot be held accountable for.
However, Yameen asserted that while government officials criticize, no one in the current administration can be held accountable.
He went on to question how many corruption cases in the incumbent administration are being investigated.
Shedding light on the People’s Majlis, where the incumbent administration holds a supermajority, the former president said that no issues that are difficult for the government or any problems that people want solutions for are being put on the agenda at parliament.
While President Muizzu had previously described the 20th People’s Majlis term as the most balanced and democratic in the country's history, Yameen has raised doubts about the sincerity of these claims, citing the current reality as evidence.
Further, the former president said that the parliamentarians representing the main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) are acting in violation of the people’s rights.
