Civil Court had decreed that the dismissal of Aminath Nadira from Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) was just.
Civil Court verdict stated that the case filed by Nadira had requested to nullify the PPM laws without having used the party procedures such as appeal process.
Nadira and Zaidul Ameen were removed from PPM for criticizing the Party on social media platforms. Along with the two, Dhiggaru Constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon was dismissed for having failed to follow the whip line on a controversial bill.
Nadira, MP Faris and other allied members had formed a separate faction of the Party, helmed by former President and PPM's Elected President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. The former President had withdrawn his support for the administration of incumbent President Abdullah Yameen. She currently serves as the Deputy Leader of the breakaway faction.
