A man who went diving off Alifushi island of Raa atoll, has died.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the incident was reported to them at around 12:08pm on Friday.

One of three people who ventured into the waters to catch fish near the Alifushi jetty area, had not resurfaced and remained underwater.

The person was fished out and taken to the island's health center.

The island’s health center is to have informed the police institution that the person had died.

Deceased was a 24-year-old.

Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
