Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that they are yet to receive the autopsy report of Abdul Ghani Ismail, who died while in custody at Maafushi Prison.
Maldives Correctional Service on September 24 revealed that Abdul Ghani Ismail was found hanging in his cell at 6:52am.
He was immediately taken to Maafushi Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at around 07:21am.
He was being held in pre-trial remand under accusations of sexually abusing a minor.
The police institution earlier revealed that they are probing the death of an inmate at Maafushi Prison.
Further, the authorities confirmed that the body was transferred back to Malé City and returned to the family on October 2, after the postmortem examination was conducted.
MPS has confirmed to RaajjeMV that they have not received the autopsy report yet.
However, they assured that they would share the information once the report is received.
Abdul Ghani Ismail's body was buried in the Hulhumalé Cemetery on Wednesday.
