It would not be possible to refer to Incumbent President Abdullah Yameen as President, says his first Deputy Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed.

Speaking in RaajjeTV’s ‘Bodu Suvaalu’ program on Tuesday night, Dr. Jameel, a one-time Justice Minister, said that self-confession is the most valid proof in the judicial justice system. Highlighting there was more evidence to prove that President Yameen had benefited from transfers of grafted state funds, Dr. Jameel said it would not be apt to even address Yameen as President. A confession of this nature, he said, was tantamount to a resignation. Dr. Jameel said the next step was for authorities to review the issue.

Dr. Jameel, who had also served as Home Minister, said President Yameen had revealed only a smidge of his transgressions.

‘When we look at the magnitude of the transgressions, it is incomparable to any previous administration, President or King. When this administration ends, the public will see the extent to which the state coffers had been emptied,’ Dr. Jameel said.
