Some working to create hatred towards President by twisting his words: PPM
PPM said that some individuals "who do not wish well for the nation" are working to create hostility towards President Yameen, by "twisting his words"

PPM called Al Jazeera's Will Jordan, who produced the exposé on Maldives, "an over-paid individual who had been brought to spread former President Mohamed Nasheed's propaganda during his tenure".

The ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has said that some individuals are trying to create hatred towards President Abdulla Yameen, by spreading false information about him.

In a statement released on Tuesday, PPM said that some individuals "who do not wish well for the nation" are working to create hostility towards President Yameen, by "twisting his words".

The President had, on Monday night, for the first time acknowledged the allegation's in Al Jazeera's exposé, Stealing Paradise, saying that "we must get the cash back".

Noting that the Al Jazeera exposé only saw the cash going into his house, President Yameen said that the money did not just enter "my house". He also said that the money that entered his house "without a doubt not halaal".

"We must get this cash back. To save my reputation we have to get tit back. And we have to check to see which parliament members were funded using this money. The money would not have just entered box by box into [my house]. It was [former vice president] Ahmed Adeeb who funded the MPs," he said.

PPM's statement said that President Yameen was referring to the Al Jazeera documentary "funded by the opposition," adding that its producer Will Jordan "was an over-paid individual who had been brought to spread former President Mohamed Nasheed's propaganda during his tenure".

It said that the President was questioning the legality of the money the former VP had given to other individuals, "if the cash [the President] gets is not halaal, as noted by Al Jazeera".

PPM called to stop such acts being done to create hatred among the people.
