Nation's highest honor being awarded in memory of Hussain Salahuddin
The president will present an honorary shield as the highest honor for serving the nation

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to bestow the highest honor for serving the nation, in memory of the late Hussain Salahuddin.

The decision was reached by the president on Tuesday, according to the President’s Office.

The President’s Office revealed that the president’s decision comes in recognition of Salahuddin’s national service in paving the path for the intellectual and ideological development of Maldivians, as well as efforts to spread the light of knowledge in the most important aspects of Maldivian nationalism, namely as the religion of Maldivians, their language Dhivehi, as well as heritage and culture.

The president will present an honorary shield as the highest honor for serving the nation.

The highest honor for serving the nation is the most prestigious honor given by the president to individuals who have rendered outstanding services to nationalism.

The decision to bestow this special honor was reached under the powers vested in the president by Article 6 of the Maldives Honors Act.

The highest honor for service to nationalism will be awarded in memory of the late Salahuddin at the official ceremony to be held on the occasion of this year's National Day.

The ceremony will be held at Dharubaaruge at 9am on Wednesday.

The ceremony will see the National Award of Honor and the National Award of Recognition presented to rightful recipients.

This year, seven individuals will receive the National Award of Honor including one person to be awarded posthumously for their enduring special service in a particular field.

The President’s Office revealed that the person being honored is the late Mohamed Thoufeeq of Haajarage in Henveiru-ward of the capital city, who gave a valuable gift to the Maldivian people that will endure through time with his voice and has provided a lasting special service.

This honor is being bestowed upon the late Mohamed Thoufeeq in memory of the completeness with which he brought the people the life story of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and for his national service in increasing the desire to listen to the prophet's life story.

This year, the National Award of Recognition is being conferred to 10 individuals and one company.

The recipients of the national awards were selected by the National Awards Committee.

President Muizzu will present a shield of honor, a badge of honor and a commemorative writing to recipients of the National Award of Honor.
