A man has been sentenced to one year behind bars for breaking into and robbing a warehouse in capital Malé City.
The Criminal Court sentenced Risham Rasheed, who was charged for breaking into and robbing a warehouse in the capital city.
He was charged with unlawfully exerting power over another person.
The charges = filed against him stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) based on information received about him and another person breaking into the warehouse of AJE Emporium in Malé and stealing items.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found him carrying a 55-inch TV with its packaging from inside the warehouse.
The defendant denied the charges filed against him.
With this, the state presented evidence to prove the charges.
The Criminal Court has ruled that the charges filed in this case have been proven beyond reasonable doubt.
Risham was sentenced to one year, two months and 12 days behind bars.
Criminal Court Judge Sofwath Habeeb issued the verdict.
