A 38-year-old Maldivian man has been arrested with drugs in Gadhdhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
In a message to media houses on Monday, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that officers stationed in Gadhdhoo island conducted an operation after receiving an intel report on drug possession and peddling.
The operation was conducted on August 18.
Arrested in the operation was Ali Nasir, hailing from the island.
He was arrested under a court order.
Upon searching the suspect after his arrest, officers found him in possession of substances suspected to be narcotics, weighing a total of 96.45 grams.
Upon being presented to the Gadhdhoo Magistrate Court for his remand hearing, the man was remanded for a 15-day period.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
