Maldivian has cancelled all of their flights scheduled to Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The national airline of Maldives announced this via a post on social media platform ‘X’, revealing that they are unable to operate the flights scheduled for Tuesday.

This comes in the wake of the deadly unrest in Bangladesh.

Maldivian revealed that they are closely monitoring the situation unfolding in Bangladesh.

The airline expressed commitment to provide support and any assistance required, to their passengers during this time.

Further, Maldivian asserted that the safety of passengers and their crew remains their top priority at the moment.

This comes at a time Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina was ousted from her position and she fled the country amid the intensifying anti-government protests in the country.

Protesters had stormed her official residence on Monday.

The protests stemmed from a decision to allocate quotas in the civil service employment, for relatives of those who served in the 1971 Bangladesh freedom war.

More than 10,000 people have been taken into police custody due to the heated demonstrations, that have seen more than 100 injured and at least 90 killed due to clashes between law enforcement officers and the demonstrators.
