The man who was arrested under accusations of torching a row of parked motorcycles, has been remanded.
Arrested and charged for torching three motorcycles at the parking zone near the People’s Majlis, was Fairooz Ibrahim, 36 and native to capital Malé City.
The Criminal Court order was sought by the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG Office).
The court ordered for him to be remanded pending the end of his trial.
His remand is in effect since Saturday.
The case was reported to the Maldives Police Service (MPS) on June 6, after a row of motorcycles were set on fire at the parking zone close to Hotel Jen.
Seven motorcycles and a van were damaged in the arson attack, three of them were damaged beyond use.
Initially, the suspect was remanded for a 30-day period, upon being presented to the court.
