Plots of land for the construction of two new mosques in Hulhumalé, have been handed over.

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) handed the plots over to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

The signing ceremony took place on Monday.

The new mosques are being built in Hulhumalé Phase II and Phase III.

The agreement to handover the plots of land, was signed by Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed on behalf of HDC and Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed on behalf of the government.

A land plot measuring 27,920 square feet, was issued from Phase II and a plot of land measuring 21,952 square feet was issued from Phase III.

More details of the work have not been disclosed, including when the construction of the mosques would begin.

HDC revealed that they are working continuously to provide the services and facilities required by the population residing in Hulhumalé,
