Following the incident, exiled former President Mohamed Nasheed applauded 19-year-old Constable Razzan's courage, adding that he will always condemn such "cowardly" acts.

Four suspects were arrested in the operation, two 32-year-olds, a 51-year-old and a minor. Azhar Ibrahim, 32, had stabbed Constable Razzan and the Criminal Court has ordered to keep him detained until the trial concludes, while the other two were given a 10-day remand.
