Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed has returned to the Maldives on Saturday.
He arrived at Velana International Airport at around 2:30 pm, via SriLankan Airlines UL 115.
While the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) had confirmed that Justice Saeed had traveled abroad, neither the Supreme Court nor the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has revealed any information regarding the trip.
The Chief Justice, who was to return to Maldives last Tuesday, had cancelled the trip at the last minute.
Justice Saeed left the country days after a case regarding the 'unlawful' disqualification of four lawmakers was submitted to the Supreme Court.
Elections Commission had decided to disqualify the four MPs- Thulusdhoo constituency MP Mohamed Waheed, Maduvvari constituency MP Mohamed Ameeth, Villingilli constituency MP Saud Hussain, and Dhihdhoo constituency MP Abdul Latheef Mohamed- after the Supreme Court ruled to disqualify MPs who leave a party, joins another or is expelled from a party.
Waheed, Ameeth and Saud are currently in police custody. They were arrested over allegations of trespassing for entering the parliament on July 24, after the Elections Commission had announced that they were no longer members of the parliament.
