The council of Thinadhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll, has been designated as ‘Thinadhoo City Council.

This was announced by the President’s Office on Wednesday.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu designated the council as a city council, as well as the Secretariat of the Thinadhoo Council as the Secretariat of the Thinadhoo City Council.

The announcement was made under Section (d) of Article 51 of the Decentralization Act.

It took effect from March 26.

The directive issued by the President’s Office reads that all correspondence addressed to the Thinadhoo City Council shall use the number 415, per the numbering system for state agencies.
