Council members of Kumundhoo island of Haa Dhaal atoll have requested the government to develop economic activities that would generate income for the island.

This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Monday.

The meeting saw discussions revolving around the multiple complaints of the island community, due to the previous administration’s lack of vision in carrying out development projects.

Councilors expressed the need to establish a waste management center, difficulties caused by the lack of a medical laboratory at the health center as well as resolving challenges surfacing due to the current condition of the island’s harbor.

President Muizzu was also briefed on the need for housing units, to resolve the housing crisis facing the island community.

Listening to these concerns, the president expressed commitment to address them and find agreeable solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.
