Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has denied reports that a number of officers were being held over a leaked audio clip of the Defence Minister.
Earlier on Wednesday, reports surfaced that a number of military officers were being held due to a leaked audio of Minister Adam Shareef, regarding the concerns expressed by the Army's Special Protection Group (SPG) over the proceedings in the parliament floor on Monday.
A credible source informed RaajjeMV that the detained officers were the ones that took part in the meeting with the Defence Minister on Monday night.
While there were reports that family members of some of these officers had expressed concern after not hearing from them since morning, with MP for Galolhu-South constituency Ahmed Mahloof also sharing this via twitter.
However, at around 8:45 pm on Wednesday, MNDF's media officer Captain Ibrahim Azim denied the reports, emphasizing that "there has been no such thing".
RaajjeMV understands that the officers were allowed to leave, after confiscating their phones.
