A vigil was held on Tuesday evening, mourning the murder of writer Yameen Rasheed.

Family, friends and community members took part in the vigil held in front of his residence Maafannu Spatula, where he was found with multiple stab wounds on April 23, on Tuesday evening.

Tuesday marks 100 days since Yameen, one of the most prominent bloggers in the country, was attacked and killed in a barbaric attack that shook the nation. CCTV footage from around his house shows that this was a planned attack.

The state filed charges against seven individuals over Yameen's murder at the Criminal Court on Sunday. Police had forwarded the case to the Prosecutor General's Office on July 20.

Former vice president of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) Mohamed Tholal said that justice cannot be served just because charges have been raised against some individuals.

"Justice will not be served until those who were behind the murder are caught," said Tholal.

The social media community also remembered Yameen on Tuesday, including former President Mohamed Nasheed, filling twitter with various stories of the late writer.
