Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Parliamentary Group Member Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that it was unacceptable that security personnel had entered Parliament floor before the session started.
The Hinnavaru Constituency MP said this was deeply concerning.
MP Solih added that the no confidence vote on Speaker Maseeh must be put on the formal agenda, as the Speaker did not have the support of the Parliament.
He further added that the session can only be carried out after putting the no confidence motion back on the formal agenda.
The authorities had launched four formal charges against MP Solih. The said charges are breaking Police ranks, attempted assault, attempted entry into closed off premises and obstruction.
Several opposition MPs have been charged with these same charges for attempting to enter Parliament on the 24th of July. Some of the MPs have been arrested as well.
