MP Qasim Ibrahim’s legal team has forwarded his request for medical leave abroad to the Supreme Court and the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives.
The legal team has said that they have asked the Criminal Court for permission a number of times to no avail, adding that his ailment has begun to threat his life.
“We have asked the commission to use to legal authority to make a decision on the matter as soon as possible” Qasim’s lawyers said.
The Jumhooree Party’s secretary-general Ahmed Sameer said that the parliamentarian is still being treated at ADK Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Qasim was admitted on 16th July after having experienced sudden symptoms of dizziness, nausea, and shortness of breath.
