Former President Mohamed Nasheed says that soon President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom will realize that he has lost all grip on power.

Speaking in an exclusive interview to RaajjeTV the former President said that President Yameen should not see that the arrest of Dhiggaru Constituency MP Faris Maumoon as a measure against taking the no confidence vote on Speaker Maseeh. He said that President Yameen was aware that his administration was coming to an end.

President Nasheed said public support was essential to staying in power.

Noting that President Yameen was elected on a coalition. With the dissolution of the coalition, he said that President Yameen had no legitimate claims on power.

President Nasheed said that Faris’ arrest was an attempt to stall the reformist movement’s operations, adding that the allegations against the lawmaker were baseless allegations. Nasheed added that if he was in Male’ he would be with MP Faris.
