Man found dead in capital, died from electrocution
Police findings indicate that the man died from electrocution

The deceased has been identified as a 43-year-old Maldivian man

The man who was found dead inside a house in the congested capital, Malé City, was electrocuted as he was attempting to steal an electricity cable.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the man found lying unconscious inside a house in Henveiru-district of the capital city on June 30, was attempting to steal an electricity cable from the house.

As such, police findings indicate that the man died from electrocution, during an attempt to sever the cable.

The man’s body exhibited symptoms of being electrified and officers had also confiscated equipment believed to have been used in the attempt to steal the electricity cable.

Police received reports of the unconscious man inside the residence, at around 1:20pm on Friday.

The man was pronounced dead upon arrival at ADK Hospital.

The deceased has been identified as a 43-year-old Maldivian man.
