Abducted journalist Ahmed Rilwan’s family has asked the Maldives Police Service (MPS) to share any information they may have on his disappearance.
The family said this in a statement, released to mark 1,069 months since the abduction in 2014 - signed by his mother, Aiminath Easa.
The statement also said that the family has filed a case seeking to have the police ordered to release said information to them. It had also highlighted the slow pace at which the investigation has progressed.
Last week, the police said that they have no information on what happened Rilwan after his abduction.
The police said this in a hearing held in the case filed with the Civil Court by Rilwan’s family seven months ago.
The family has put forth that they have a right to know what happened to Rilwan, under the Right to Information Act – a right guaranteed to them by the 29th article of the constitution.
