Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb’s lawyers have said that the funds allegedly embezzled from Scores of Flair were deposited in incumbent President Abdulla Yameen’s bank account.

They said this in response to President Yameen stating that Adeeb will only be freed once the funds are returned to the state.

The Anti-Corruption Commission has been probing into allegations that the state operated Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation’s (MMPRC) former Managing Director, Abdulla Ziyath, former Vice President Adeeb, and businessman Hameed Ismail had embezzled from resort leases.

The Civil Court has decided to move forward with its case for MMPRC against Scores of Flair over MVR 165 million in absentia.
