Three individuals have been arrested in separate drug operations.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the operations were conducted in Guraidhoo and Madifushi islands of Thaa atoll as well as Fonadhoo island in Laamu atoll.

The operation in Guraidhoo island was carried out following an intel report that an individual on the island was in possession of drugs.

The operation was carried out on May 20 and officers found a rubber packet stuffed with suspected narcotics upon searching a 45-year-old man on the road.

Officers in Madifushi island conducted an operation after being tipped off, on May 20. A 19-year-old who was in possession of a piece of cellophane filled with suspected narcotics, was arrested in the operation.

An intel report received by the Police Intelligence unit led to the operation being launched in Fonadhoo island on May 19.

Three residences on the island were raided during the operation and officers confiscated a bottle and 86 pieces of cellophane filled with suspected narcotics.

A 22-year-old was arrested in connection with the case.

The suspect has since been remanded by five days upon being presented to the Fonadhoo Magistrate Court, at a facility to be allocated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

All three cases are under further investigations.
