Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit the Maldives next week.

India’s media outlets have been reporting that their Defence Minister, Singh will be undertaking a visit to the Maldives in a bid to bolster defence ties with the neighbor.

Minister Singh is expected to arrive in the Maldives on a three-day trip, on Monday.

Reports reveal that the Indian Defence Minister will be meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during the visit.

Further, meetings will also be held with Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and Minister of Defence and National Security Mariya Ahmed Didi.

Relevant authorities are yet to clarify the details of the Indian Defence Minister’s trip, however, the visit is expected to solidify the defence ties between the neighbors, further.

The visit is also expected to enhance cooperation the Maldives and India have in areas of maritime security and regional stability.
