The police have no information on what happened to journalist Ahmed Rilwan after his abduction, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) has said.
The police said this in a hearing held earlier this week in the case filed with the Civil Court by Rilwan’s family seven months ago.
The case asks that the MPS be ordered to share information about its investigation into the disappearance in 2014, which the police confirmed to be an abduction two years after.
The family has put forth that they have a right to know what happened to Rilwan, under the Right to Information Act – a right guaranteed to them by the 29th article of the constitution.
