The ruling Progressive Party of Maldives’ (PPM) parliamentary group has dispatched a group tasked with bribing their parlaimentarians to not support the no-confidence motion against speaker Abdulla Maseeh, opposition MP Abdulla Riyaz has said.
Riyaz said this in response to the PPM parliamentary group leader saying that they have a ‘game plan’ to combat the motion, adding that this group is armed with funds of up to US$ 5 million.
At an opposition rally held at Kunooz, the Jumhooree Party’s headquarters, Riyaz said that PPM is focusing on reacquiring the support they lost and are mostly approaching the ruling party parliamentarians that signed the motion.
11 MPs aligned with PPM had signed the motion submitted on Monday.
