The non-resident Ambassador of Indonesia, I Gusti Ngurah Rai has said that Indonesia is committed to developing the existing bilateral ties with Maldives.
The Ambassador made the comment during his call with President Abdulla Yameen on Monday morning, after presenting is letter of credence to the President, at a ceremony held at the President's Office.
Noting that Indonesia and Maldives "have cooperated on a number of multilateral fronts" over the four decades since bilateral relations were established between the two countries, giving the President assurances of his commitment to develop "existing trade and economic ties" during his tenure as Ambassador.
At the meeting, President Yameen highlighted the economic and development cooperation, as well as on "further strengthening trade and commerce" ties between both countries.
Furthermore, he expressed "hope and confidence that Maldives will continue to receive the same level of support, engagement and assistance from Indonesia in the future".
President Yameen was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim and Minister of State for Foreign Relation at the President's Office Mohamed Naseer.
