Employees at Loama Resort Maldives in Raa atoll have begun a strike, after their employers failed to honour their salary agreements for the past three months.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, an employee at the resort said that they had not been given the compulsory Ramadan allowance as well.

Hence, the employees are demanding that they be paid the three months' salary at once, as well as the allowance.

However, the employee told RaajjeMV that the resort's management has already informed them that they will not be able to meet their demands.

RaajjeMV was unable to get a comment from the resort's management at the time of publishing.

While the occupancy at the resort has been dropping for the past three months, the current occupancy is at 11 percent.

Loama Resort Maldives at Maamigili was opened in January 2015.
