The Dhaalu Airport, on Kudahuvadhoo island, will begin flights on Wednesday, the national airline has announced.
The Maldivian airline said that it will conduct flights to the airport at least once a day from 28th June onwards.
A one-way ticket from the capital city to the airport is currently priced at MVR 888, while the airline has said that tickets are available at different prices as well.
Maldivian had conducted test flights at the Dhaalu Airport earlier this month.
Senior members of government and a number of parliamentarians had participated in the event.
Riolo Group developed the airport to have runway that stretches 1,800 meters and an area of over 62 hectares.
The company has been previously quoted saying that the airport can accommodate to 42 aircrafts at once, where it had said that Dhaalu Airport would be the first Maldivian domestic airport to accommodate privately owned aircrafts.
The project was given to Riolo Group in 2013, and the airport will be operated by a company established solely for the task, named Dhaalu Airport Holdings.
