Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Deputy Chair Ali Niyaz says the Party will make three key pledges for the manifesto of the 2018 Presidential Elections.

Speaking in RaajjeTV’s ‘Fala Suruhee’ program, Ali Niyaz said this year’s Congress will mainly focus on compiling the said manifesto, as well as some changes to the Party laws.

MDP last held the Congress seven years ago.

Speaking about the manifesto, Niyaz said the manifesto will seek to improve the lives of public, fully functional within the decentralized system of rule. He added that development will be brought in without compromising national identity.

Niyaz further noted the manifesto will include certain benchmarks the nation will have to achieve on an international platform.

He also pointed out the aspects of previous manifestos that had positively impacted the economy and nation.

Similar to the previous manifestos, Niyaz said next year’s one will be based on a limited number of goals which are achievable. As such, he noted in 2008 and 2013 the Party pledged five key pledges, adding that this pattern will continue this year as well. However, the manifesto will include many aspects that will contribute to achieving these pledges.
