Vilingili Constituency MP Saud Hussain says he was summoned to Police on baseless allegations.
He was summoned on Friday night on allegations of attempted assassination on High Court Judge Shujau Usman and gave his statement on the matter.
After giving his statement, Saud said he did not believe there was any other information that needed to be shared regarding the case.
‘I don’t believe I have to attend more summons,’ he said.
Saud’s lawyer said Police were now aware the case had no basis and did not believe the case will be sent for prosecution.
He was previously summoned to Police on allegations that he had attempted to assassinate High Court Judge Shujau Usman. Former Senior Policy Executive at the Education Ministry Ibrahim Haneef had been arrested in connection to this case as well.
The Parliamentarian was affiliated with the Yameen faction of the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM). The summons began after he had revoked his support for the Government and pledged allegiance to the opposition movement.
