The body of Tholaal Ahmed, who went missing on Sunday morning, has been discovered underwater.

Tholaal, 24 years of age, went missing at sea while he was fishing with another man on a dinghy off Addu City’s Hithadhoo ward.

Addu Equatorial Hospital revealed that he did not have a pulse when he was rushed to the hospital.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) received the missing persons report at around 11:32am on Sunday.

The authority initially revealed that they received reports of one of two men onboard the dinghy having gone missing, however, they later reported that there were three men onboard the dinghy at the time.

MNDF dispatched a team of their southern area coastguard squadron to the area, upon receiving the report.

Upon discovering his body immersed under the water, the squadron had rushed him to the hospital.

Addu Equatorial Hospital told RaajjeMV that he was taken there at around 12:34pm on Sunday and was lifeless even when he was brought in.

Doctors confirmed his death at around 01:05pm on Sunday.
