Managing Director of Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) Mohamed Nimal has resigned from his position.
Raajje.mv understands that Nimal resigned to take a more active role in the campaign of President Abdullah Yameen. He had served as campaign manager during the council campaign for the Yameen faction.
Raajje.mv also understands President Yameen’s campaign will start trips to islands after Ramadan.
No statement has been issued by Nimal.
Nimal was appointed as Managing Director at MRDC in March, after his predecessor Abdu Razzaq Haleem was appointed to head MPL.
Prior to his appointment at MRDC, Nimal was serving as Deputy Minister at Tourism Ministry. Prior to that he was serving as Managing Director of FENAKA.
He removed from FENAKA in September 2016. At the time of removal, a case had surfaced where he had authorized the transfer of MVR 17 million to a private company to purchase dollars.
