A team of Maldivian journalists have headed to India for training.

The Maldives Media Council revealed that the skill-building and training programme comes under an opportunity paved by the Indian government’s ITEC Programme.

The initiative comes under the council’s efforts to advance the skills and pave progress for media houses of the island nation.

The programme is titled “In-Service Training of Editors and Journalists of Maldives”, is conducted by the Amity University, Noida.

The eight-day training programme will be held from August 22 – 29.

The Maldivian team taking part in the programme consists of 20 members including journalists and editors.

Under the initiative, the Maldivian team will be visiting different media houses in the neighboring country as well as government institutions and bodies, to observe how their work is carried out as well as learn more about the code of conduct at India’s media stations.
