Over a 100 people have participated in the yoga session organized by the Indian Embassy accredited the Maldives, in commemoration of the upcoming international yoga day.
Mohamed Khaliq from the embassy said that the office is extremely delighted that Maldivian take such a hefty interest in the practice and that he believes the turnout was lower than the usual given the ongoing month of Ramadan. The embassy has organized more events throughout the upcoming week.
“People are interested in this because it something that has to do with health, I believe” Khaliq said.
The embassy has organized more sessions throughout the week, at the Billabong High School, Galolhu Madrasa, Iskandhar School, Majeediyya School, and at the Kangaroo Kids pre-school.
First Secretary Archana Nair said that this is third in a set of annual sessions the embassy organizes and that more information is available on Facebook page of the Indian Cultural Center of Maldives.
“We urge everyone to come and join us, even first timers. It’s not restricted to anyone and not simply a physical exercise. We urge everyone to come and experience the benefits of yoga” Nair said.
The international yoga day falls on Thursday, 22nd June.
