All services of the Center will be available from new premises

The Ambassador of United States of America to the Maldives and Sri Lanka Atul Keshap says America ‘remain engaged in the Maldives’, adding that Maldives can serve as a pillar of stability, democracy and prosperity all across the entire Indian Ocean region.

He made the statement speaking in the opening ceremony of the new premises of the American Center in the Maldives.

The Ambassador opened the new premises, in a ceremony attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Irthisham Adam.

‘I know that you all saw the June 7th statement by 30 countries including United States, expressing our concerns about events in Maldives and calling for positive changes. As your partners and your friends, I want to assure you that we remain engaged in the Maldives. American people and American Government believe, American people and American Government believe, in a vision of a Maldives that is peaceful, prosperous, moderate, democratic and stable. A Maldives that can serve as a pillar of stability, democracy and prosperity all across the entire Indian Ocean region,’ he said.

In Keshap’s address, he focused on the work carried out by the Center, which had humble beginnings as a Corner back in 2004, to the center it had transformed into.

In her address, Minister Irthisham thanked the Center for their contributions and expressed her hope that the partnership will continue.
