MP for Hinnavaru constituency Ibrahim ‘Ibu’ Mohamed Solih has been reelected as Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s parliamentary group leader.
While the party is to hold its parliamentary group elections on June 20, MDP said that Ibu was elected by default as he was the only member to have submitted his candidacy within the given deadline.
Furthermore, MDP said that except for one position, the required number of members had submitted candidacy for all other posts.
While two members are to be elected as the party’s deputy parliamentary group leader, three people have shown interest for the post; Meedhoo constituency MP Rozaina Adam, North Maafannu constituency MP Imthiyaz Fahmy and Central-Henveiru constituency MP Ali Azim.
Alifushi constituency MP Mohamed ‘Bigey’ Rasheed has been elected as the group’s secretary general, while South Henveiru constituency MP Ahmed ‘Rukuma’ Abdul Kareem was elected as his deputy.
