DRP recently joined the government coalition

President Abdulla Yameen has nominated Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) leader Mohamed “Colonel” Nasheed as the Ambassador of Maldives to Thailand.

Nasheed’s name has been sent to the parliament for approval.

After parliament sessions resume on June 5, Nasheed’s name will be sent to the committee for review.

While President Yameen has nominated Nasheed for the post, it is important to note that DRP recently joined the government coalition.

Nasheed, who was previously a member of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), is a former parliamentarian.
