Fareesha Ibrahim, sister of former First Lady Nasreena Ibrahim and wife of former Information Minister Summer Blue Ibrahim Manik, has been laid to rest.
She was laid to rest in Singapore on Friday.
Former President and brother in law, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom led the funeral prayers.
In a tweet posted after her funeral the former President said her death was heart wrenching.

Maumoon had thanked all those who had attended her funeral.
Fareesha passed away on Wednesday while receiving treatment for her illness, around 8.30 pm Maldives time. At the time of her death, she was 65 years old.
She was first treated in Bengaluru, India, from March this year. She was transferred to Singapore on May 16th.
Nephew Ghassan Maumoon and nieces Yumna Maumoon and Dhunya Maumoon were in Singapore, along with President Maumoon and Nasreena Ibrahim. Only Faris Maumoon was not able to meet Fareesha Ibrahim as the Government had confiscated his passport and barred him from travelling.
