The roofs of 16 houses in Hithadhoo had blown away during the tornado, and the displaced families were able return home last week

Staff of Maldives Inland Revenue (MIRA) have donated MVR 60,000 to the families that suffered due to the recent tornado that swept across Hithadhoo district on May 17.

The money was raised by employees at the MIRA office in Addu, and are to be distributed evenly to the 12 families whose houses that had sustained the most damage in the tornado.

The employees are to personally meet with the families, and give MVR 5,000 to each family.

The roofs of 16 houses in Hithadhoo had blown away during the tornado, and the displaced families were able return home last week.

RaajjeTV opened a Relief fund to assist the citizens on May 18. The fund was opened in order to help the families suffering due to the tornado that hit Hithadhoo, destroying several homes and displacing their residents.
