Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) has begun investigating the crash of the company’s aircraft 8Q-TMV, while it was landing at Water Aerodrome and Velana International Airport, on Saturday.

A statement released by the company said that the craft had crashed due to damages sustained while trying to land at the Water Aerodrome.

TMA added they will cooperate with authorities in the ongoing investigations.

Trans Maldivian Airways aircraft 8Q-TMV crashed into the water as it was landing at the Water Aerodrome at Velana International Airport on Saturday morning. The aircraft was travelling from Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.

All nine passengers and three crew members were then taken to Hulhumale Hospital for further examination, and has since been released.
