Most of capital Male’ City was without power for two hours on Monday, due to an issue with the observing system.
STELCO media official Ibrahim Rauf said most of Male’ City was without power on Monday morning due to an issue with the observing system. The power outage which started at around 0950hrs ended two hours later.
Technical issues had been attributed to the recent power outages. Serious power outages were reported on the fourth of this month and on March 5th. On March 5th, most of Male’ was without power from 1300hrs to 1600hrs. STELCO reported that the outage was caused by a damaged high voltage cable connected to a transformer kept temporarily at the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), which provides water services to the nation. Residents living near the MWSC’s offices reported having heard a loud sound before the outage.
STELCO is currently hosting a symposium for heads of powerhouses, from the 14th to the 20th of this month. The symposium aims to address the issues facing the powerhouses.
