Maldives has participated in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, an international diplomatic event held by China.
Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed had represented the government at the two-day event that began on Sunday.
A statement from the Ministry of Economic Development said Saeed had met with Mihály Varga, Hungary’s Minister of National Economy, and discussed cooperative development between the two nations.
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had been in attendance at the forum, along with 29 heads of state – including Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Turkey’s Tayyip Erdoğan. International or
The forum is organized under the The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, which is a Chinese development strategy that primarily aims to bolster cooperation between other nation in Eurasia.
