Environment Ministry’s Coordinator Izzath Waheed has been dismissed from his position as Coordinator at the Ministry.
Reliable sources reported to Raajje.mv that Izzath was dismissed from his position, under the powers granted to President Abdullah Yameen on Monday.
Izzath, who hails from Fareshmaathodaa, was dismissed after his father actively campaigned for the opposition in Saturday’s Local Council Elections. His father is an active figure in Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) activities run in the Constituency.
He had served as the Vice President of Volley Ball Association.
The interim results show that the three candidates who had contested on MDP ticket had won the Council seats for the constituency. The Constituency is represented in Parliament by ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) Member Hussain Mohamed Latheef.
Majority of the seats in the Local Council Elections have been won by opposition MDP. The defeat for the ruling PPM has been astounding, even in key strongholds previously enjoyed by the Party.
