A foreigner who attacked a local taxi driver this Monday night, has been remanded for 10 days.
While the man was arrested the same night as the attack, Criminal Court set the remand limit on Tuesday.
The attacker was arrested on Monday night. According to a witness, the 25-year-old Indian man was intoxicated at the time of attack. Police have also confirmed that he was noticeably under influence when taken into custody.
Eyewitnesses told RaajjeMV that the attacker had attempted to strangle the local driver, with his own shirt. The driver is to then have lost control and crashed the car in to parked vehicles. The incident took place on the 19th block, Nirolhu Magu.
According to reports, the violence started after the driver asked for the taxi fare from the customer he had picked up from Hulhule' Island Hotel (HIH). He is to have claimed to not have any money and proceeded to attack the driver.
