Maldives reported 66 new cases of the global Covid-19 pandemic on Tuesday.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that all 66 cases were reported from the Greater Malé Region
The new cases include 52 Maldivians, 12 Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian nationals.
With this development, the country’s Covid-19 case count has risen to 5,223.
Further, with 14 recoveries reported by 6pm Tuesday, the total number of recovered patients has risen to 2,849.
While Maldives reported the 21st death to Covid-19 on Wednesday morning, there are 148 Covid-19 patients currently hospitalized for treatment, whereas 1,507 remain in isolation facilities.
The country has 2,354 active cases of the virus, currently.
With a sudden surge in Covid-19 cases since the lockdown ease plan was implemented, Covid-19 cases have also been detected in outlying island.
Currently, there are active cases in nine resorts, including six tourists and 10 staff members.
Islands with active Covid-19 cases are:
- Kelaa island in Haa Alif atoll
- Filladhoo island in Haa Alif atoll,
- Hulhudhuffaaru island in Raa atoll,
- Kudarikili islad in Baa aroll,
- Maafushi island in Kaafu atoll,
- Ihavandhoo island in Haa Alif atoll,
- Naivaadhoo island in Haa Dhaal atoll,
- Kamadhoo island in Baa atoll,
- Hinnavaru island in Lhaviyani atoll,
- Fulidhoo island in Vaavu atoll,
- Fuvahmulah City and
- Hithadhoo district of Addu City
