Maldives reports 47 new Covid-19 cases

Maldives has reported an additional 47 Covid-19 cases, as well as 30 recoveries.

The new cases reported on Saturday are mostly locals. As such, 43 Maldivians tested positive for the virus, as well as three Bangladeshis and one Indian national.

The brings the country’s total Covid-19 case count to 2,664.

Further, with the recovery of 30 more patients, total recoveries has reached 2,268.

There are currently 368 active cases in the country.

Authorities continue to express concern over the increase in “unlinked cases” or cases without any connections to previously confirmed cases. The country reported the highest daily surge in Covid-19 cases since lockdown easing began, on Friday.
